SoRickNGood was sparked from my passion for culinary storytelling. Thoughtfully curated from years of endless kitchen experiments, countless tasting adventures, and eclectic pairings, SoRickNGood was fueled by a desire to share my gastronomic inventions with the world. An artisanal journey built on over 30 years of carefully crafted chapters as a Vietnamese kid, proudly born and raised in Jane and Finch by the hero of SoRickNGood’s story, Mama Nguyen. 

All of my products, every single locally-sourced ingredient and each polished recipe, culminated from the infinite lessons she patiently taught me. 

After the loss of my father, she selflessly dedicated her life to making sure we had everything we needed. Putting all her needs aside to ensure the three of us were continuously happy. Myself, my brother, and my beautiful sister Donna who was born with chromosome abnormalities; cerebral palsy, microcephaly, hydrocephalus, and with a ventriculoperitoneal shunt since infancy. She is unable to walk or talk and requires 24/7 care.

Despite shielding us from her battles as much as she could, we saw the never-ending struggle. The 24/7 care she provided Donna the past 40 years meant she couldn’t experience the many joys in life that I took for granted. Traveling, independance, and just the simple yet precious gift of time. I knew from an early age that my dream was to one day provide her with the financial freedom she needed to finally enjoy her life. And so, I founded SoRickNGood as a means to fuse the love for authentic cooking she passed down to me, to help her and families like my own. 

A percentage of all SoRickNGood’s sales will be donated to Empowered Kids Ontario, publicly funded child development and rehabilitation sector that help kids with disabilities and their families live their best lives. This organization aims to provide services and care to families with loved ones who have physical disabilities. Through my line of small-batch, hand-crafted hot sauces, I hope to make an impact in amplifying and supporting the voices of those who need it most.
